The American Dream: The Last Unicorn

It's no big secret that thousands of people are finding and gaining employment in new jobs. It's great to get a job when you really need one. Get up, clock in, work work work. Working hard and making money to achieve the American Dream is what this country is all about, right?

Well, let me tell you. What happens when you work your butt off for fifty years and your still not rich?

What does it mean when the only one getting wealthy is the one your working for?

It means that something is wrong with the original American Dream.

The first American Dream was based on working for someone else making them rich and maybe you get the promotion you've been after for years. You get the raise, the office in the corner overlooking the city, with the white picket fence surrounding your house, 3.5 kids and a brand new station wagon. Well those days are slowly but surely coming to an end.

Thousands of new jobs are being created, but the wages are so low, people can barely afford the cost of living. Companies gave some great raises in major cities over the last few years, but then the cities turned around and raised the prices on everything from gum to housing. One step forward, two steps back. How can you win like that?

Did you know in Japan they are slowly but surely going fully automated. There are food courts with a bunch of tables and a bunch of vending machines. You put your money in the machine an a meal comes out. Not just a regular meal like a tuna on rye or something like that, but something really nice like lamb, sushi, etc... They also have machines that vend mixed cocktails, draft and bottled beers.

Why is this significant? If you are a service industry worker such as a waiter or bartender, as technology gets more advanced, the less waiters and bartenders you will see. What will these workers do then? That's basically wiping out an entire labor pool to maximize profits. This also applies to so many other jobs and positions. More metal, more money.

The only way to combat this is to create an exit strategy. If your not going to get a fair shake working for someone else, working for your self is the next best thing. There are thousands of home based business opportunities out there. Many people are so skeptical and/or afraid to become their own boss. They think it's easier just to get up, go to work and come home. They don't have to worry about a license, insurance, a building, promotions, etc... Still they complain and moan about being over worked and under paid every single day. They dream about hitting the lottery and becoming rich, when in reality had they invested that lottery money in an IRA, they would be well on their way to retirement. I have seen people spend hundreds a week on lottery and such, don't win a thing and wonder why they are broke.

The difference between people that are living the New American Dream and people who aren't is a simple change in mindset. Changing your goals and trying new things is the only way to find true success. If you have been doing the same thing for years and your still in the same position, you just proved my point. You can start by simply searching and researching opportunities on social media and the internet.

It's time to move into the future. It's time to be that unicorn.
